Cold weather conditions intensified across several parts of Rajasthan over the past 24 hours, with dense to very dense fog reported in many eastern districts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.

According to weather officials, Fatehpur in Sikar district recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 2.8 degrees Celsius, emerging as the coldest location as winter conditions deepened.

Minimum Temperatures Across Rajasthan

Several cities experienced a sharp dip in night temperatures, highlighting the severity of the cold wave:

  • Sikar: 3.2°C
  • Alwar: 4.4°C
  • Sirohi: 5.0°C
  • Lunkaransar: 5.6°C
  • Karauli: 6.1°C
  • Jaipur: 8.2°C

Residents in Jaipur reported chilly mornings, with cold winds increasing discomfort during early hours.

Dense Fog Hits Eastern Rajasthan

The IMD said foggy conditions significantly reduced visibility in many parts of eastern Rajasthan, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours. Authorities advised commuters and travellers to remain cautious, especially while driving on highways and rural roads.

“Cold conditions are likely to persist, with dense fog continuing in fog-prone regions,” IMD officials said.

More Cold Days Ahead: IMD Forecast

Issuing a fresh outlook, the weather department warned that:

  • Minimum temperatures may fall by 1–2°C over the next 2–3 days
  • Cold wave conditions are possible in parts of northern Rajasthan
  • Maximum temperatures may remain 2–5°C below normal for the next 48 hours
  • Dry weather is expected to prevail across the state for the coming week

Advisory for Residents

Authorities urged residents to take precautions as cold conditions persist:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel during foggy mornings
  • Wear adequate winter clothing
  • Drive cautiously due to low visibility
  • Elderly people and children should take special care against cold-related health issues

Why This Matters

With Jaipur weather worsening and colder nights forecast, residents across Rajasthan are advised to brace for harsh winter conditions. The combined impact of a cold wave and dense fog could continue to affect daily routines, transportation, and health over the next few days.
